Byron Bay Bluesfest

If you’re into blues music and festivals then The Byron Bay Bluesfest happening over the Easter break is for you. Held annually, the Bluesfest is one of the largest and most popular events on the Byron Bay calendar, attracting thousands of people to the Northern Rivers each year.

It all began in 1990 as a three-day music festival at ‘The Piggery’ at the Arts Factory Lodge. Back then it attracted only around 6,000 people. Each year the numbers have increased and what is now known as Bluesfest has found a permanent home at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm with the capacity for over 100,000 people and camping for 6,000.

Today the Bluesfest is one of Australia’s most acclaimed and respected festivals, collecting a number of awards and inspiring other festivals all around the world. Some huge names, spanning three generations have been announced in the 2018 line-up.

Robert Plant and The Sensational Spaceshifters will be marking the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin’s first performance with a tribute touching on many of Plant’s old band’s classics, while the legendary Lionel Richie will be bringing some big hits and star power. Jackson Browne, Seal, Sheryl Crow, CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers is bound to have the entire festival on their feet, and Tash Sultana, Morcheeba, Ms. Lauren Hill, Kesha, and the John Butler Trio are also set to make The Bluesfest 2018 one to remember.

One, three or five-day tickets are available, starting at $159 for one day and $595 for five days (excluding camping). Tickets always sell fast and if you’re not camping onsite be sure to book your accommodation as soon as possible also.
